This past friday I went to university of florida (about a 3 hour ride to gainesville) with my Grind Time partner Madd Illz, who is rated the number one rap battler in the south. Unorthodox Phrases, who is coming up in the battle scene out here. And Trig; Guerilla Republik founder and Immortal Technique's cousin.
The ride was maaaaaaad long, but it was all good on the ride up. Basically, we were going to some emcess freestyle challenge and 2 on 2 bboy competition.
I really was tired as hell and had a headache, but i didn't really care about the damn competition. I was just going to network and get out the house, i guess.
When I got there i had to wait like 30 minutes to get into the bathroom. This apparently a big mistake. While I was in the bathroom, they announced the rules for the freestyle challenge. So, when it my turn in the first round, I had to pick three random words out of a hat and incorporate them into A 45-SECOND freestyle. So, Im think everything is all good when I say a line about "fucking emmigrants" or something like that (lol) and I see mad people looking at me lke I just killed the Pope. Then i hear someone like "U can't swear."
That basically cost me advancing to the next round. LOL I talked to Madd Illz (who judged) and my homeby Midaz (Blakout) from Orlando, who notified me that that wasn't the ony swear I said. I guess I had cursed like 25 times. Lol I had to laugh at that.
Basically the last round was Midaz and the defending champ from UF (forget his name.) Midaz won! I think the most memorable line was "Nigga you suck at excite bike" the way Midaz said that was funny as hell.
Is it just me or does it seem like everythere orlando rapper go we shut shit down???? Me and Mad Illz went to Tampa about a year ago to this 4 week long battle and they had to change the brackets and have us battle each other in the semis instead of the finals cause we were murdering their hometown heroes so bad.
But anyways ... Does anyone watch that show "Americas Best Dance Crew???" Its pretty good and I've been addicted to it for weeks (until the final 2 weeks ago). Anyways there was a crew from Tampa in it...i saw the crews leader and talked to him for a little while at the event. Dude was pretty down to Earth; come to find out he watches battles and knew of madd illz.
So, after the battle we cyphered and I murked it with this long ass freestyle and some spanish-european-something looking nigga battled midaz. Of course Midaz murked him, but the dude best lines was a response to Midaz "saying he needed a kilt and a bagpipe" or something. Dude responded by saying "im scottish cause i met and girl and I bagged and then piped."
Its kinda suspect. I said that line to Madd Illz in jumpoff after he called me the last king of scotland or something. It was kinda obvious that dude watched jumpoff by the way he battle rapped. so...idk...wateva i got fans.
But yea the ride home was crazy long. We listed to Necro's The Sexorcist, which i never heard before that night (well...morning) and it was the funniest shit i ever heard in my life. EVERY RAP FAN MUST HEAR THAT. Its pretty sick and twisted, but you won't stop laughing.
SO basically Trig ended up giving e a ride home in the end and taking to me about how him and his cousin (Immortal Technique) founded Guerilla Republik. I always knew dude, but I never chilled with him before. Trig is cool as hell; I can see him and Guerilla Republik being a huge business partner in the future. Dude is mad smart.
But yea, this is kinda late, but I should have some more stories soon.
