Networking...

Right now im at school. About an hour ago i was sitting down just chillin when i saw this girl who looked like she was a mix between black and spanish. She was sitting down talking to this older-looking black gentlemen. Me, being the nosy person I am, kept an open ear to their conversation just to see what was going on.

All of a sudden, the dude starts saying he know Rodney Jerkins personally, DJ Khalid, and starts naming a bunch of people. Usually, people at my school do a lot of talking, but never get anything done (which is sad because I go to Fullsail - one of the top Recording schools in the World.)

Then, I hear the girl saying that she does R&B and is all about her business. The guy starts saying that he can hook her up with all the contact she needs to succeed (in a nut-shell.)

I don't know if you see an oppourtunity here, but i definitly did. I kinda waited till they stopped talking, and followed the girl outside.

As soon as i got a chance i hit her with the "excuse me" (she was wit her homeboy) told her I heard her say she does music & I do videos. Her and her homie (who makes beats i guess) got excited and said they wanted to come to the Knowledge Medina vs hardkore battle (next SUNDAY!!! the 20th!!!) to see what I do an network.

Now, if you are a true business man/woman you probably see what I did. I opened up a oppourtunity for myself. Heres what I see:

-I can make some money shooting her and her friends/associates videos
-I might be able to get her to collab on a track with me that needs female vocals
-I can meet the man she was talking to through her. It seems like I could learn a lot from him.

Theres so much more. i really don't understand why people are scared to talk and network. This is the ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY networking is key!!!!

I was at the University of Central Florida campus last week because my girlfriend had a presentation. The school president was there and she said the realest thing I have ever heard in my life, "You go to school for education, but the most important thing you will do is network." People need to understand this and take it to heart. I've heard so many stories about how people got jobs because someone they met in college called them randomly saying "I know a job you will be perfect for."

Basically, its all about opening oppourtunities for yourself. NETWORKING IS KEY. And that ladies and gentlemen is just a little example of how to network!
